ISH (in situ hybridization/ in situ hybridization) is one of the modern diagnostic methods in the pathological anatomy of tumors and tumor-like processes.
This research method makes it possible to identify mutations at the gene level with their visualization using special staining methods.
The most common methods are:
FISH - when genes are labeled with labels that glow in a different light spectrum
CISH / SISH - when a color label is used, which is well defined when examined in a conventional light microscope.
Depending on the objectives of the study, the pathologist chooses the most optimal method, each of which is comparable in sensitivity.
The main objectives of the study using this method:
– Diagnosis of tumors of the blood, soft tissues, bones and many others, when the diagnosis remains unclear based on the results of the stages of histological and immunohistochemical studies
— Evaluation of tumor sensitivity to various treatment regimens. For example, to determine the sensitivity to chemotherapy drugs of breast tumors with a questionable level of expression of HER2/neu (2++).
- Diagnosis of soft tissue tumors
The Bureau conducts a FISH/SISH study using registered equipment and reagents from the world's leading manufacturers DAKO and VENTANA.
Bureau employees constantly improve their knowledge in this area by participating in seminars, conferences and on-the-job training in leading Russian institutions.
